Oman makes an official statement!

MUSCAT — The Sultanate has condemned Sunday's Israeli airstrikes at Qana in south Lebanon which resulted in a tragic loss of civilian life. Describing the incident as a massacre, an official at the Foreign Ministry also denounced the ongoing attacks which continue to take a toll of innocent civilians, while destroying their homes and livelihoods, as well as public infrastructure and vital establishments in various areas of Lebanon and Palestine.

Calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities and an end to the killings, the statement urged the international community to shoulder its responsibilities by taking necessary steps to resolve the conflict. In doing so, the international community must address the underlying reasons behind the conflict and tackle them in a fair and equitable manner, taking into account international legitimacy and the relevant laws and resolutions, the official stressed.

Issuing the statement, the official reiterated the Sultanate's plea for disputes to be resolved peacefully, and for all sides to eschew actions that escalate into armed conflict. This is pivotal to preserving international peace and security, it said. In concluding, Oman extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims of the ongoing hostilities. — ONA
