Farewell Faisal

Morning started off alright but mom just called me telling me that my 2nd cousin (Faisal K) passed away in his sleep. He's only 37 or so. Everything was going well for him until he had a tragic deadly accident 5 yrs ago or so which left him in a coma for 6 months, paralyzed for a year, kidneys, liver and pancreas torn, broken ribs, brain injury, skull fracture, short term amnesia, internal bleeding in his brain and almost every organ of his body, damaged vocal chords, his contact lenses punctured one of his eyes and a hole had to be made in his throat to breathe. The guy was basically a dead man but he woke up 6 months later and started walking 1.5 yrs later (with a lot of difficulty, internal battles and a crutch), fought to talk again, got a brain surgery done (by the same surgeon who did surgery for Christopher Reeves), regained his memory, his mind was absolutely clear and beautiful but his physical state would make you think otherwise.

Everyone knew he was back to life through his emails but it was always hard to see that when you see a partially crippled man who has difficulty talking, walking or helping himself. This man was a doctor and just after he completed his police training to work for ROP hospital, his life was taken away from him on first day of Eid. It's truly heart-breaking.

May his soul rest in peace always, Amen.
